Our work in Latin America

Creating opportunities through education, sustainable agriculture and water & resource management

Why we work here

Latin America is a region with deep social and economic inequalities. Many rural and urban communities lack reliable access to quality education, stable income and safe water or food supply. Climate change and environmental degradation further threaten their livelihoods.

We believe in people’s potential. Through our programmes in education, vocational training and sustainable resource use, we support communities in building sustainable futures — with dignity and opportunity for all.

Where we work

Guatemala

In highland regions such as Sololá, many indigenous Maya communities face persistent poverty and limited opportunities. With our early childhood and agro-ecology programmes, we support families to improve nutrition, safeguard natural resources and give children a fair start.

Honduras

Recognized as one of the poorest countries in Central America, Honduras is heavily affected by climate change. Through sustainable agriculture, water management and preschool support, we help rural families build resilience and secure stable livelihoods.

Colombia

Decades of conflict have displaced millions in Colombia, leaving many families in urban outskirts with limited access to safety, quality preschool services and employment. Vivamos strengthens early childhood education for children from low-income families and supports young adults through vocational training, job placement and psychosocial support. Since 2024, we also promote sustainable land and water use for smallholder families in the Andean highlands.
