What difference do our projects make? This question is central for Vivamos. From the planning phase through to implementation, we integrate impact measurement at every stage. We set clear, measurable objectives and monitor progress continuously. This enables us to ensure the quality of our work – for the people we work with and for our donors.
We also rely on impact measurement that meets scientific standards and regularly collaborate with independent research teams. Their findings provide robust evidence that helps us continuously strengthen and refine our programmes. Two of these impact studies have been recognised with the Impact Award from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and ETH NADEL.
These studies show, for example, that children participating in our pre-school programmes perform better at school in the long term and are less likely to repeat a year. They also demonstrate the positive effect of psychosocial support on the mental wellbeing and income prospects of young people facing structural barriers.
Evidence from our impact studies

Youth empowerment works: vocational training and income for young people in Colombia
Our impact study shows that young people who receive psychosocial support alongside vocational training are mentally healthier, cope better with stress and earn more than their peers who receive only technical training.
Pre-school support works: neighbourhood nurseries in Colombia strengthen early learning
Independent evidence shows that cost‑effective quality improvements in state‑run neighbourhood nurseries create lasting benefits for young children. Those participating develop stronger cognitive, psychosocial and psychomotor skills.
Long‑term impact: 13 years of project work in Brazil
In the Jequitinhonha Valley in Minas Gerais, Vivamos supported smallholder families in improving water access, agricultural production and local organisation. A comprehensive evaluation in 2020 confirms lasting improvements across key indicators.
Vivamos acts in a highly impact-oriented manner and has in-depth knowledge of impact measurement.
